![]() The hard drive crapped out and I replaced it with a Mercury Electra 6G SSD which should have helped considerably. My early 2011 is running terribly (High Sierra). I'm wondering if these are shady sellers (oh my, really? Not on eBay!)? Or is there something about the way they are selecting "About this Mac" that makes the NIVIDA card not appear to be onboard? Is this possibly a System Preference that needs to be selected? Or, is it due to not having a monitor attached?Įven on the early 2011 MBP I'm using now, the About screen shows both Graphics cards: AMD and Intel.Īlso, I'm wondering if I should set my sites on a retina? I do a lot of photo editing, often large image files too. Adding to my confusion is that when I contact the seller they always tell me the card is onboard. My understanding is that this particular "upgrade" model only came with the extra card. I've noticed that on some listings the "About this Mac" screen shot will show the NIVIDA GeForce GT 650M (1GB) graphics card and others will not. For a while now, I've been looking for a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15" Core i7 2.7GHz, mostly on ebay.
